Mount Sibayak, situated in Karo highland of Berastagi, is one of the most accessible volcanoes in Indonesia. Since its last eruption was more than a century ago, visitors are allowed to hike to the summit and have a glance of this massive active volcano. You will have to take a short ride from the town centre of Berastagi and hike in the Great Bukit Barisan Forest Park for about 4 hours to the top of Mount Sibayak. Most visitors would spend a night to see this one of the most stunning sunrise in the North Sumatra.
